Coach Lori Cooper has extensive experience as a triathlon and swim coach, helping athletes ranging from beginner age group kids to Olympic-level elites and professionals reach their goals. She believes exercise should be a balanced program of speed, strength and endurance; and that proper nutrition, rest and recovery are paramount to effective training responses, maintaining health, and reducing the risk of overtraining. In addition to her coaching experience, Coach Lori is a clinical exercise physiologist with experience in creating exercise programs for improving or maintaining general health as well as reducing risk for disease and injury.
Her research at the United States Swimming International Center for Aquatic Research centered on high-intensity interval set design with emphasis on planning of the rest and recovery phases. In pursuit of her Ph D., coach Lori centered her research on immune system responses to exercise and nutrition, and performance variables associated with ultra-endurance exercise. This background has provided Coach Lori with valuable tools that help her plan exercise programs for both competitive athletes and general exercisers, all of which fit her coaching philosophy that the physical, mental and emotional health of the athlete are the number one priorities; exercise should be fun and smart; and limits can be broken.
Coach Lori grew up swimming and competes as an age-group triathlete, with consistent top 10 finishes both overall and in her age group. Recently, she qualified for the 2014 ITU Off-Road World Triathlon Championships in Germany. She was raised in Wyoming and Colorado, and currently lives in the Dallas, Texas area.
